Please join us to celebrate the winners of this year's RPCVSF Spirit of Service-Learning Award at our 3rd Annual "Celebrating Local Educators" house party/potluck!

Each year RPCVSF partners with the Miami-Dade Teacher of the Year Coalition, with the support of the Armando Alejandre, Jr. Memorial Foundation, to recognize educators who adopt Service-Learning in their curriculum.

Josh Young (RPCV Mali '84-'86, Paraguay '88-'90) hosts this annual house party to recognize the winners of the Service-Learning Award.  Families, friends and children are welcome and encouraged to attend - we'll have a trampoline, tree house, basketball hoop and games, as well as food, drink and good company.

This will be a FUN and INTERESTING and INSPIRING evening - please plan to be there!  You will meet and celebrate outstanding local educators who are changing the world one student at a time.  We will present cash awards to this year's winners (K-12 and Higher Education) who will share with us how they inspire students to serve by combining classroom learning and civic engagement.

Please bring your favorite dish to share and BYOB.  Non-alcoholic drinks will be provided by RPVCSF. The event starts at 5 pm, and we'll present the awards at approximately 7 pm.

Directions to the house: take I-95 to NE 125th St., go east, and then go south on NE 6th Ave.  Josh's house is at the corner of NE 121st St and NE 6th Ave.  (near Barry University).

For more information please contact

Josh at (305) 323-2158, or jyoung@mdc.edu

AND, RPCVSF's Fair Trade Market also will be at this event, as the Market comes out of a summer hibernation.  We'll have new items on display, so please plan to support Fair Trade by shopping with us.  With your help we've raised more than $17,000 from proceeds of our Market's sales to donate to charitable organizations and have supported fair trade merchants around the world by spending more than $21,000 on inventory.  Please keep shopping with us - how you spend your money makes a difference!
